How to scan documents to PDF with your phone
You can turn a paper document into a clean, readable PDF without a scanner.
Steps
- Tap Scan on the home screen. On Android Google's document scanner opens, on iPhone Apple's; edges are detected automatically.
- Capture the pages in order; use Retake or Add pages when needed.
- Pick a look with Filter: Auto, Color, Gray, B&W or Text. Crop and rotate a page if needed.
- Turn on Searchable PDF if you want to search the text later.
- Tap Save; the PDF is added to My Documents. Use Export to save it anywhere.
Good to know
- Receipt scan boosts contrast and crops tighter for receipts and invoices.
- The app does not open the camera itself; scanning uses a system component, so no camera permission is requested on Android.
- Scanning happens entirely on your device; images are not sent anywhere.
